Luxury travel company, Holidays Please, is looking for a talented senior programmer to work in its highly rated programming team in England.

It is essential that the candidate has strong programming experience and is able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for technology and programming.

The successful candidate can either work from our modern, high tech offices in central Birmingham (St Paul's Square) or from home, or a hybrid of the two.

The travel sector is an amazing sector to work in as it attracts fun loving, positive people and has the best perks in the world!

About Us

Starting on capital of just £6,000, Holidaysplease has now grown from 3 people to over 150 and has sold over £200m of holidays. Despite its size, the company still retains that fun, small company feel.

As testament to its success the company has picked up numerous awards including “Online Travel Agency of the Year”. Holidaysplease is also ranked in the top 3 travel companies in the UK for customer service with an average rating of 9.9 out of 10 (source: trust pilot).

During covid it was one of very few travel companies not to make any redundancies and has already started to grow again to levels beyond 2019. It has just finished a record breaking quarter in sales and profits.

Being an internet company, the company loves applying technology to the travel sector and using it to provide an experience to customers that is second to none. The company loves coming up with exciting new ideas and bringing them to life.

Required Experience:

Front end web development (mainly PHP and Javascript work) - 25%
Back end development work within an in-house framework and Laravel - 30%
MySQL Database management/development - 20%
Supervision/training and code review of junior staff - 25%
Required Skills:

Good PHP, Javascript, HTML, CSS skills
Good SQL skills (MySQL)
Laravel framework knowledge
Good understanding of network administration and IT hardware/software support issues
Good understanding of IT security
A passion for programming, a fast learner and a willingness to provide a high level of support.
Writing MVC applications
Linux server administration
Database administration
Technical / science degree
VueJS knowledge
Node.js knowledge
Supervision and training of junior staff
