We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established company in Maidstone, Kent, who are expanding their internal development team. This is a hands-on senior role where you will take ownership of Laravel-based systems, shape architecture, and guide the development of scalable applications.

The Role

* Design and build new web application features using PHP and Laravel

* Lead technical decision-making and influence architecture

* Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and develop solutions

* Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services

* Write clean, maintainable code using modern development practices

* Mentor junior developers and lead code reviews

* Participate in Agile ceremonies and support continuous delivery

* Contribute to system improvement, performance, and security

Requirements

* 5+ years' commercial development experience (PHP and Laravel essential)

* Strong knowledge of Laravel components (ORM, Blade, routing, middleware, queues)

* Experience with MySQL or similar relational databases

* Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript (Vue.js is a bonus)

* Confident working with RESTful APIs and Git version control

* Experience with testing tools (e.g. PHPUnit) and CI/CD pipelines

* Strong communication and problem-solving skills

* Must be able to commute to Maidstone (office-based role)

Desirable Skills

* Experience with Docker or cloud platforms

* Background in Agile/DevOps environments

* Exposure to mentoring or leading development teams
